The Hush Post: The decision on allocation of portfolios to the Council of Ministers is likely to be taken today by Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram. Sources said no decision could be taken on Wednesday owing to the last-minute addition of Kishan Kapoor in the list of ministers, just before the swearing-in. The list of portfolios already approved by BJP chief Amit Shah and party in-charge Mangal Pandey has been sent to the party high command in Delhi for final approval. As its first step towards service to the common man, it approved lowering the age limit for providing social security pension from 80 to 70 years. The pension would be given without taking into consideration income criteria.
In the first cabinet meeting that took place on Wednesday, the cabinet adopted the BJP’s vision document (Swarnim Himachal Drishti Patra) as the policy document of the state government. All decisions taken by the previous Congress government in the last six months would be reviewed. The winter session will be held from January 9-12, it was announced.
The Cabinet also decided to cease all appointments made by the previous Congress government such as chairman and vice-chairman in government boards and corporations.
Taking the final call, the Cabinet terminated the services of all those employees who after superannuation were on extension or re-employed. The order mentioned that no separate notices would be issued in this regard. It also sought the compliance report of the decision.
The approved orders for transfers and postings will be processed and given effect only after obtaining approval of the competent authority through the minister concerned.
The Cabinet put on hold the recruitment process being carried out other than by the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission and the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission. “The recruitment of all such categories may be stopped forthwith and the complete details in this regard be sent to the Personnel Department within two days,” an official order read.
The order will apply to all board and corporations and autonomous bodies. Only the process of recruitment in various medical colleges would continue.
