IN FEBRUARY’S BMW HIT AND RUN CASE, CAR WAS FULLY ACCELERATED TO RUN OVER SEN, VIRBHADRA’S RELATIVE, SAYS EYE WITNESS

The Hush Post: In February this year, a brawl after a late night booze party had resulted in the death of Akansh Sen, co-owner of restaurant Boom Box Cafe in Sector 9, Chandigarh, and also nephew of Himachal Chief minister’s wife, after A BMW car was repeatedly run over him a couple of times. During cross-examination in the case which completed on Wednesday, the complainant in the BMW murder case and also business partner and cousin of Akansh Sen, Adamya Singh Rathore, was made to recall the entire incident.

Answering a question put to him by defence counsel AS Sukhija, Rathore said he cannot confirm what the speed of the BMW car was when it hit Sen but it was being fully accelerated by the accused. The defence counsel informed that Rathore has not submitted his blood-stained clothes from the day for examination.  Rathore, along with two others, had taken Sen to the PGI where he succumbed to injuries the next day.

An eyewitness in the case, Rathore said Harmehtab Singh Rarewala, alias Farid, had asked Balraj Singh Randhawa loudly to “run Akansh over again as he had not died after the first impact”.  As the defence counsel repeatedly asked Rathore to describe specific details, ranging from parking of cars to his distance from Sen, a seemingly frustrated Rathore had to be told to ‘not get agitated’ by the judge.

Farid and Balraj are the two accused in the case. Farid is in custody and has been charged for murder while Randhawa is absconding and has been declared a proclaimed offender. Farid is the grandson of Gian Singh Rarewala, former chief minister of the erstwhile Pepsu state. The duo had allegedly hit Sen with their car in an inebriated condition and crushed him under its wheels.
