The Hush Post: Jai Ram Thakur is the new Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. Thakur, who is a five-time MLA from Seraj was born on 6 January 1965 prevailed over Prem Kumar Dhumal and also JP Nadda. .He has been an MLA since 1998 and previously served as Cabinet Minister in BJP government. He was Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj from 2007-2012.
Born to a Rajput family in Mandi, and schooled from Government Senior Secondary school Bagisad was introduced to the ABVP during his college days. He was BJP state president from 2009-13. His term as party president is considered as non-controversial and acceptable.
In a meeting in Shimla, the two observers, Nirmala Sitharaman, Narendra Tomar and the Union Health Minister JP Nadda all were present when his name was declared. Even as his name was declared, Dhumal’s men did show some discomfort, though, it wasn’t shown openly. Earlier, there was open division in the BJP with Dhumal’s and Jai Ram’s supporters at loggerheads in the presence of the two central observers. Interestingly, Dhumal proposed Jai Ram’s name and it was seconded by Shanta Kumar and JP Nadda.
