The Hush Post: Hundreds of women brandishing swords participated in an agitation against the movie Padmaavat and warned the government that if the movie releases on January 25, the women will perform a Jauhar. Till now more than 1,900 women have given their names for ‘jauhar‘ (committing suicide by jumping into fire) in Chittorgarh. The march started from Chittorgarh Fort and culminated at the main market. Thereafter a memorandum was submitted to the District Collector, Indrajeet Singh.
As per the memorandum, if the movie is not banned they will perform jauhar a day before its release which happens to be January 24.
Spokesperson of Karni Sena Vijendra Singh said that the body will request the cinema owners in the coming three days and ask not to screen the movie. Karni Sena still threateningly has said that if the movie is screened they will be responsible for the consequences.
In the meanwhile, massive booking rush is being reported for the movie from across the country, mostly due to the controversy it courted.
