Justice Abhilasha Kumari takes oath as Manipur Chief Justice for 13 days, father Virbhadra Singh attends function

The Hush Post: Justice Abhilasha Kumari on Friday became the first woman to become the Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court. Governor Najma Heptulla administered the oath of office to Justice Kumari at a ceremony in the banquet hall of Raj Bhavan in Imphal. Justice Kumari, daughter of former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh, was a Gujarat high court judge before her elevation. She will remain in office for 13 days, as she is retiring on February 22. She was not promoted in 2017 although her name came up for promotion last year as well.The swearing–in-ceremony of Justice Abhilasha Kumari as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur was also attended by her father Virbhadra Singh and mother Pratibha Singh. Others who attended the ceremony included Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Assembly Speaker Y Khemchand, Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar, Opposition leader O Ibobi Singh and acting Chief Justice N Kotishwar.
