Days after Gounder’s death, gangster of a rival gang escapes from Punjab Police custody

The Hush Post: Days after the killing of Vicky Gounder and two of his accomplices, a gangster Rajat Malhotra aka Karan Masti made a vanishing act from the Amrtisar district court complex. At the time he escaped, Malhotra was in the custody of Punjab Police. He was on the third floor of the court complex and handcuffed when the incident took place. He was to be produced shortly before a judge pertaining to a case. The moment he smelled the opportunity, he opened the handcuffs and ran away. The cops tried to chase him but he was already at some distance.

Rajat is a member of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and Bobby Malhotra gang, known to be rivals with the Vicky Gounder gang. Malhotra along with his accomplices had looted a bank in Hoshiarpur in 2016. An FIR was also registered against him in connection with the murder of Hariya, who was killed near Division B police station in May 2016. Many other cases including that of carjacking, have been registered against him in the neighbouring state of Haryana. A massive manhunt has been launched to nab him.
