The Hush Post: Two students were run over by a bus in Kolkata after which a mob set three buses on fire. The police had to be immediately rushed to the spot to control the irate mob on the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass. The two victims died on the spot.
Just after the incident, the police resorted to a lathicharge that enraged the mob further, as a result of which they started throwing stones. Even the fire engines were stoned by the mob which refused to relent after the incident. The mob mostly comprised of college students who were friends of the victims. Many police personnel were injured in the stone rain which followed from the rooftops and from the roadside.
The two youth who died have been identified as Biswajit Bhuiyan and Sanjay Banu who were crossing the road when the incident took place. This is the second such incident in West Bengal. In another incident this week, 44 people died when a bus rammed into the railing of a bridge in Murshidabad and fell into a canal.
