The Hush Post: Three people were killed and 14 others were hurt as a massive blast occurred in the boiler of a chemical factory at Tarapur’s Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation area of Palghar in Maharashtra, News Nation reported on Friday.
The explosion shattered the window glasses of buildings in the radius of upto 3 kilometres. The noise of blast could be felt in the radius of upto 10 kilometres.
The blast took place at the Novaphene Specialties Private Limited in E-107 unit of MIDC at around 11 PM and triggered a fire in five more factory units nearby.
The people of the locality said that after the blast, a lot of thick smoke spread in the area and electricity in the houses got cut off.
The fire has spread to other companies adjacent to the company and details about casualty is yet to be ascertained.
The fire brigade personnels with fire tenders were trying to control the fire till the filing of this report. The fire is learnt to be fast spreading in the surrounding areas. Tarapur Atomic Power Station, India’s largest nuclear power station is also located on Boisar-Tarapur road and is just 20 kilometers away from the explosion spot, a News Nation report said.
