The Hush Post: A 22-year-old boy Ravneet Singh from Ludhiana on a study visa in Australia drowned in a beach at Duranbah, a popular beach in New South Wales when the entire world was immersed in Christmas celebrations. Eldest son of a family belonging to Gill village in Ludhiana, he was one of the eight swimmers, all of them friends, who drifted out to sea near Gold Coast. Emergency services were called to Duranbah Beach at Tweed Heads, following reports of people in trouble in the water. There had been a warning of bad weather which was disregarded by the youngsters. The others were rescued by the lifeguards emergency team and taken to hospital. Meanwhile, the Indian community in Australia is showing support for the family through financial donations on My Cause fundraising page and is making arrangements for the body to be sent to India. Ravneet had a penchant for Punjabi poetry and one of his favourite line was ‘Waqt tajerba te de dinda, par bande di masumiyat kho lainda’.
