The Hush Post: Something will be amiss this year round at the Attari-Wagah border today on the occasion of the Republic Due to growing incidents of ceasefire violation by Pakistan, the Border Security Force (BSF) has decided not to exchange sweets with Pakistani Rangers, as has been a custom through the years despite the animosity between the two neighbours.

A senior BSF official on condition of anonymity said, “This time we are not exchanging sweets with Pakistani Rangers.” Traditionally, the BSF and Pakistani Rangers exchange sweets on special occasions like Independence Day, Eid, Diwali and Republic Day. This year began with a record number of ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LOC) in January itself.
