The Hush Post: A woman from Nainital has been arrested for allegedly pretending to be a man and marrying twice to two girls and demanding dowry from them, The Hindustan Times reported on Thursday.
The arrested woman has been identified as Krishna Sen alias Sweety Sen who was arrested by the Haldwani Police on Wednesday.
She pretended to be a man on the social networking site Facebook. She created a profile by the name of Krishna Sen in 2013. The profile also consisted of her photographs showing her as a man.
Krishna used her Facebook profile to chat with several women and lure them. She met a woman in Uttarakhand’s Kathgodam and married her later on.
The police reportedly said that Krishna (alias Sweety) then started beating “her” wife and demanded dowry from her. She took around Rs 8.5 lakh from her wife and started a factory.
Krishna then married another girl from Kaladhungi. Interestingly, the second girl had attended Krishna’s first marriage as a guest. Krishna rented a room in Haldwani and kept both his wives there.
Krishna’s bluff was called out after the first wife registered a complaint with the police.
The girl from Kaladhungi came to know that Krishna was not a man, but she lured her to keep silent by promising her money. The girl from Kathgodam area lodged a report with the Haldwani Police alleging of dowry demands and threats after which the police made the arrest, the police said.
The police also said that Krishna did not allow both the wives to see or touch his (her) body and used sex toys to have a physical relation with both of them.
