The Hush Post: Former Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC), chairman, Ravi Sidhu has been found guilty in disproportionate assets case by special Vigilance Bureau (VB) court here. The quantum of sentence will be given on January 15, 2018. Sidhu was sent to jail after the verdict. Sidhu is already undergoing rigorous imprisonment of seven years in cash-for-job scam.

The case against Sidhu and five others was registered at VB police station, Mohali in March, 2002. Ravi Sidhu, a former journalist and later the PPSC chairman was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh at his residence in Sector 39. Sidhu was appointed Chairman by former chief minister Harcharan Singh Brar.

The pandora’s box opened up when a case of an Excise Inspector had gone to the commission for induction into the Punjab Civil Services (PCS). That inspector was asked to pay Rs 5 lakh in advance and the remainder after the selection. The Flying Squad of the Vigilance Bureau got a whiff of it, laid a trap and caught Sidhu.
