The Hush Post: With over 400 crores spent, the Parwanoo-Pinjore bypass is yet to provide relief to residents of Pinjore and Kalka. With an aim to decongest the towns of Pinjore and Kalka the Pinjore-Kalka bypass was opened for motorists in year 2012. Six years down the lane, traffic snarls between Parwanoo and Pinjore persist, as only 30 per cent of the vehicles take the bypass.

While the bypass seems to be mainly used by tourists visiting Himachal Pradesh, the road between Pinjore and Kalka remains choked with daily commuters. Motorists who want to visit Parwanoo still prefer the Pinjore-Kalka route instead of the bypass mainly because it is shorter and also saves them the trouble of getting stuck in a traffic jam at TTR. The local residents have been demanding direct connectivity at least at three places between Pinjore, Kalka and Parwanoo towns, but their pleas have fallen on deaf years. The NHAI and PWD state that they have no such proposal in front of them.
