Ludhiana: Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Saturday announced to install a statute of Master Tara Singh, and university in his name while paying tribute to Master Tara Singh on the 50th commemoration ceremony organized by Akali Dal (Delhi) at Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (Gujarkhan Campus).
While addressing the audience, Sidhu mentioned that he will convince the Chief Minister Captain Aamrinder Singh to fulfill the demand of Kiranjot Kaur, maternal granddaughter of Master Tara Singh. “If Kiranjot wants a statue or a memorial or a university or all three in the name of Master Tara Singh, I promise it would be established soon as the wishes of the family of Master Tara Singh. I will convince Captain Aamrinder Singh to fulfill her demand” Sidhu added that Master Tara Singh was Selfless leaders and would continue to rule the hearts of the people.
Paramjit Singh Sarna, President of Akali Dal (Delhi) who was also present in the program said that Master Tara Singh had always put the interests of panth above his own. Maternal Granddaughter of Master Tara Singh, Kiranjot Kaur said that previous government here have marked birth anniversaries and death anniversaries of Master Tara Singh but they failed to set up memorial for Master Tara Singh, who was a powerful leader of SAD and guided Sikhs during the partition of India.
After paying tribute to Master Tara Singh, KTS Tulsi, Member of Parliament and Senior Advocate in Supreme Court addressed the gathering and said that Congress is making efforts to eradicate the problem of drug menace in the state. For keeping check on the working of administration, Congress has started a department of Guidance of Governance. He also added that to waive off loans of farmers Rs 9500 crores will be given in five years.
During the occasion, Harvinder Singh Sarna, Vice President of Akali Dal (Delhi, Dr SP Singh, Former Vice Chancellor Guru Nanak Dev University; Prithvipal Singh Kapoor, Pro- Vice Chancellor Guru Nanak Dev University; Gurvinder Singh Sarna, General Secretary of Guru Nanak Education Trust and Amarjit Singh Dua, Convener of the event, Bharat Bhushan Ashu MLA, Giani Kewal Singh, Harcharan Singh Golwaria Former Mayor, Jaswinder Singh Balliyewal and other prominent personalities were also present.
