The Hush Post: In an early morning accident on the Kharar-Morinda highway on Wednesday morning, a Swift Dezire car coming from Morinda ran over twelve persons, all belonging to Himachal Pradesh, who were going home to Chandigarh after their duty. The injured, all waiters were coming from Ludhiana.
All the injured were instantly transported to the Kharar Civil Hospital by the highway police. Six of the injured were referred to PGI, Chandigarh, while the rest are recovering at Kharar hospital. They suffered fractures on legs and arms. The reason of the accident could be the fog or the driver catching a wink and losing control over the car. The driver of the car fled the spot but the broken name plate lying at the accident site led the police to its owner in Kurukshetra.
A catering contractor had taken 40 waiters from Dhanas in Chandigarh to Ludhiana. After the late night job, the waiters were returning from Ludhiana in a private bus when the tyre of the bus punctured. By the time, another bus was arranged from Chandigarh by the contractor, twelve of the waiters got down to take up another local bus to get home early instead of waiting, that’s when the accident took place.
