The Hush Post, Ludhiana: The Aam Aadmi Party could not secure win a single seat in the Amritsar, Jalandhar and Patiala Municipal Corporation elections, however, it will contest the upcoming Ludhiana civic body polls.
With campaigning in full swing, the party leaders have started identifying candidates. Whether, they will share seats with Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) is yet to be seen.
In a statement reported in a national daily, AAP state general secretary Ahbaab Grewal said, “In other cities, we lack a strong base. But in Ludhiana, AAP received a good response in Assembly elections as from every ward we had got around 2,300 votes.”
Regarding the allegations of booth capturing and bogus voting against the ruling Congress during MC polls, Grewal said, “We are ready to face every situation. We will give Congress a tough fight.” When asked about seat sharing with LIP, he said they would soon make an announcement. AAP had just managed to secure one seat in Municipal Council of Bholath, Kapurthala, the only in Punjab.
Pertinently, the Delhi Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has been made the Punjab in-charge. The list of candidates will be finalised only after talks with him and his go ahead.
