The Hush Post: The Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Virbhadra Singh has got a big relief from the Supreme Court as the Special Leave Petition filed by the Income Tax Department has been rejected in the case pertaining to re-assessment of the Himachal CM’s income tax returns. The SLP was rejected on Tuesday. The matter was being heard for close to two years in the apex court. The IT department wanted to re-assess the IT returns afresh. Virbhadra had gone to the High Court against this plea of the IT department in which the HP High Court ruled in favour of the CM. Thereafter the department approached the Supreme Court filing an SLP which was summarily rejected today.
This is the second such relief to the Himachal CM. Earlier on Thursday, in the case of disproportionate assets, a Delhi court had given exemption to the Himachal CM from personal appearance till the conclusion of arguments. The case was filed by the CBI. Virbhadra has, in the past taken a dig at the BJP, and the PM, saying, ‘these cases are a result of the Prime Minister Narendra Nodi’s love for him.’
