The Hush Post: A non-resident Indian, who was settled in Australia for the past 12 years, had no clue that his wedding would turn into mourning, as he had happily alighted from the aircraft a few days ago to get married here in his home country. Vikram Vohra, 36, hailing from Guhla area of Kaithal district in Haryana, was killed in a celebratory firing on Saturday night. He was dancing at his ‘ladies sangeet’ function along with other relatives when a family member reportedly fired a shot, which hit the groom who was to get married on Sunday. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The groom’s friends, Vikramjeet Waraich and Navtej Waraich who are brothers, also sustained splinter injuries and were hospitalised.
Kaithal Superintendent Of Police Astha Modi told a national daily that the police have started investigations and are trying to finding out who fired the bullet. Video footage of the function has been sought from the family. The groom’s body has been handed over to the family after autopsy. An FIR has been registered under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and Section 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
