In a shocking incident, a mother has allegedly slit the throat of her 14-month-old daughter, as she was fed up of her cranky behaviour. The incident took place in Nashik.
The accused, Yogita (27) has been remanded in police custody till July 20. Laxmikant Patil, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) said,“This is the very primary outcome of our interrogation of the accused and the family members. We believe the woman felt harassed by the child’s irritable behaviour.”
“We are also looking into other aspects of the case that will come to the fore in a day or two,” he further added.
Initially, Yogita claimed that an unidentified man entered her house in Panchavati on Wednesday morning to steal goods. The man had hit her and killed her daughter.
But police found her story suspicious as no valuable was missing from the house. Meanwhile, there wasn’t any sign of a fight between Yogita and the attacker also.
The police told that also during investigation, she made contradictory statements. They also found a blade in the empty lift shaft of the building and the blood on it allegedly matched Yogita’s own blood. Thereafter Yogita was arrested on Wednesday.
“We are told that Yogita Pawar had been in a state of depression. This angle would certainly be investigated,” police said.
