The Hush Post: Earlier, there were the reports of women being harassed, molested, raped, and assaulted by the drivers of two reputed cab services, now a woman from Mumbai by allegedly assaulted by a fellow female passenger in a pooled taxi of Uber.
The incident that took place in Mumbai on Monday, came to light after the victim, Ushnota Paul, posted a series of posts on Twitter tell about the ordeal she underwent, a report said.
In her tweets, Ushnota Paul posted pictures of her injuries and described her harrowing experience. She said she was racially abused during her Uber ride. She said she tried to take a picture of the woman but was unable to do so as the attacker threatened that she would damage her phone. Before she de-boarded the taxi at Urmi Estate in Mumbai’s Lower Parel, Ushnota Paul said she was grabbed by her hair and was also scratched on her face, the report said.
After that, the victim got an FIR lodged with the Lower Parel police station and said that Mumbai Police were “very supportive”. On contacting Uber to get details regarding the female passenger who assaulted her, Ushnota Paul claimed that “Uber refused to give the woman’s details stating “customer privacy.”
“I have been physically & verbally assaulted in broad daylight by a complete stranger. The whole back seat of @Uber is full of clumps of my hair, I have injury on my face & hands & I’m definitely psychologically scarred. I take Uber twice everyday & yet I know now that I’m not safe,” Ushnota Paul tweeted.
