Three identical murders reported in last 48 hours in Cuttack

The police in Cuttack district of Odisha suspects the hand of a psychopath behind three identical murders in last 48 hours. On Friday, a special police team was set up to find the killer.

Satyajit Mohanty, Police Commissioner Bhubaneswar-Cuttack reportedly said, “In the last 48 hours, Three murders have been reported in Cuttack. After analyzing the pattern of the murders, we are guessing that the crimes have been committed by the same person. All the victims were homeless. All of the circumstances point towards a psychopath killer.”

Another senior police official reportedly said, “It is dangerous as the person is yet to be arrested. Keeping this in mind, we have taken the precautions in Cuttack.”

Bringing back the memories of the ‘Stoneman’, these deaths have triggered panic in the city. In the year 1998, 9 people were killed by a suspected ‘Stoneman’.

According to the reports, the special police team comprises 11 constables and 2 police inspectors.

On Tuesday morning, the first body was recovered from Ranihat Bridge. The other two bodies were recovered on Wednesday near SCB Medical College and from OMP market respectively.

 The police informed that the throats of all the three bodies were slit and their hands were hit with a heavy object.

DCP Akhileshwar Singh said that the police have stepped up night patrolling. Also, the homeless are told to sleep in shelter homes.

Moreover, the Government Railway Police in the area have been alerted about it and told to be more careful as many sleep in open near the railway station.
