A married woman in Odisha was tonsured and paraded in a village for allegedly having an extramarital affair with her brother-in-law. The incident occurred on Wednesday night in Sanakaliapad village of Balasore district.
The woman had allegedly gone out with her brother-in-law, a distant relative of her’s on August 21. Fumed, the villagers dragged her out of her house, shaved her head and paraded her naked in the village.
The villagers then took the 25-year-old woman to a nearby village and abandoned there. She, however, returned home later.
The victim’s father lodged a complaint with the Nilagiri police following the incident.
The police have detained six persons, including two women, in connection with the incident.
All the accused are relatives of the victim and residents of the same village.
