Pakistan gets first Hindu woman judge, she says, “Will provide free legal services to the poor”

Suman Pawan Bondani is the first Hindu woman in Pakistan who is all set to serve as a civil judge. According to the Pakistani media, Suman passed her LLB from Hyderabad and did her masters in Laws from Kadgerchi’s Szabist University.

Suman hails from Qumbar-Shahdadkot and will be appointed in her native district. Her success put her father Pawan Kumar Bondani on cloud nine. He is immensely proud of her. Pawan Kumar Bondani who is an eye specialist said that Suman wants to provide free legal services to the poor in Qumbar-Shahdadkot.

Suman stood 54th in merit list for the appointment of Civil Judge/Judicial Magistrate. The father added, “Suman has opted for a challenging profession, but I am sure she will go places through hard work and honesty,”

Suman’s elder sister is a software engineer and another sister is a chartered accountant. Suman is a fan of legendary Indian singers like Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle.

Earlier the first Hindu man to become a judge was Justice Rana Bhagwandas who has served as the chief justice for brief periods between  2005 and 2007. Only 2 per cent of the total population of Pakistan, are Hindus but Hinduism is the second largest religion after Islam.
