Body of missing paraglider Kok Chang from Singapore found at Bir Billing

A rescue team was looking for a missing Spanish paraglider when they spotted his body in Baijnath area

The body of a paraglider from Singapore has been found in the famous paragliding destination of Bir Billing in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.  A rescue team was on way to the location of another missing paraglider, a Spanish national, when they spotted his body.

The dead paraglider Kok Chang (53), a former commando in Singapore army, was a free flyer. He had gone missing on Monday, Baijnath SDM told a regional daily. His body was spotted in the hills of Utrala region in Baijnath area.

The Singaporean paraglider had come to participate in the Paragliding World Cup to be held from October 27 to October 30.

“The cause of the death could only be revealed after post-mortem,” the SDM added.

Meanwhile, the missing Spanish paraglider Jos Lewis has been spotted in Bandla hills near Palampur. The local administration maintained that food and warm clothes have been provided to the trapped paraglider and he would be rescued on Wednesday.

The district administration had been looking for him in the Bara Bhangal area. Helicopters and para-motors had been pressed into service. Finally, he was spotted by a rescue team in Bandla hills.

There has been a spate of mishaps in the last few days as several international paragliders are practising in Bir Billing ahead of the world cup.

A Russian and a Latavian paraglider have sustained injuries in Bir area of Baijnath.

The Russian paraglider got stuck in a tree in the Jatingri area. A Latavian paraglider lost control over his glider and fell in the Joginder Nagar area. He was admitted to Baijnath civil hospital. He was later shifted to Tanda medical college, Kangra.
