The Hush Post: After an LeT operative caught in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, divulged details of links leading to Kasol in Kullu, the Himachal Pradesh police has increased vigil and beefed up security in the state especially in the Kullu Manali area, the tourists’ so-called paradise. The nabbed terrorist, Abdul Naeem, a close associate of 26/11 Mumbai attack case accused Abu Jundal, revealed that he had carried out a recce of hydel projects of Himachal and Israeli tourist-dominated Parbati valley in Kullu. The police is keeping a close vigil on guest houses, hotels, roads and jungles in the old Manali area. Searches are being conducted by the special unit of the CID department and the local police. The alleged terrorist was caught on November 28 and questioned by the NIA (National Investigation agency) and the UP ATS (ANTI TERRORISM SQUAD).
The security agencies suspect that he may also have visited places frequented by Israeli nationals. Thousands of Israelis visit Kullu, especially Kasol in Parbati valley which has nearly 100 hotels, guesthouses, homestays and restaurants, so much so that instructions on signboards are written in Hebrew also.
