Dog turns into campaigner in Maharashtra; detained for bearing a BJP sticker on body

Election authorities on Monday detained a dog with a pro-BJP sticker on its body along with its master. The incident was reported from North Maharashtra’s Nandurbar town while the polling was underway for the fourth phase.

The dog’s owner, Eknath Motiram Chaudhury (65) was spotted with his dog near Andhare Hospital on Monday afternoon. Chaudhary is a resident of Navnathnagar area.

A local police official informed that the dog had a sticker of BJP symbol with a message “Modi Lao, Desh Bacho” (Vote for Modi, Save the country), on its body.

The police had received a complaint about the dog and his master are roaming around the town while the polling was going on. Since, campaigning is prohibited on any polling day, the dog and its master were detained.

A case under Section 171 (A) of the IPC has been registered against Chaudhary for violation of election rules.

The police has requested the local Municipal authorites to take the custody of the dog.
