Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu, has expressed her desire to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Congress. Punjab local bodies minister Navjot Singh’s wife wants to fight from Chandigarh. For this, she submitted her application to Congress chief Pardeep Chabra on Friday, January 25.
Explaining the conditions of the city, she said, “The city has failed to get the required infrastructure and projects for its growth. Everyone is aware of city’s potential and it is in a serious need for an overall change. Chandigarh is Le Corbusier’s union territory, but sadly it is not maintained the same as it used to be.’’
“No woman has represented Chandigarh from Congress. I wish to contest these 2019 parliamentary elections as I want to do something remarkable for the city.”, she said as she gave her application.
Targeting Kirron Kher, she said, “The MP has failed to do anything worthy for the city. Not only for the public, but also for the film industry as there is no film school or acting classes in the city. Villages of Chandigarh are poorer than those in Punjab. The city doesn’t have its own rules and regulations. Moreover, the city could not gather any medical tourism and required government infrastructure.”
There are two other party ticket claimants, Pawan Kumar Bansal and Manish Tiwari. Navjot Kaur Sidhu said that she is applying through quota for women. Since BJP had put up a woman candidate last time, Congress should also look into this matter.
