The Hush Post: Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu and Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal have got embroiled in a word war. This war is over the contentious issue of opening of the passage to Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan.

While Sidhu claims he took up the matter with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday, Harsimrat Badal has refuted his claim. Harsimrat said on Tuesday that External Affairs Minister Swaraj rebuked Sidhu for his controversial acts in Pakistan. Harsimrat said that Swaraj has told her Sidhu came to meet her without an appointment. Former Congress minister MS Gill had sought an appointment with Swaraj and Sidhu went uninvited by Swaraj, Harsimrat said.

Navjot Sidhu claimed at a press conference on Tuesday that he had a detailed discussion with Swaraj. He said he urged Swaraj to send a formal request to Pakistan for the opening of the Kartarpur Sahib passage. Sidhu had a meeting with Swaraj on Monday. Sidhu said that Swaraj conveyed to him that Centre is preparing a draft for the same.

At this, Harsimrat Kaur Badal had claimed that the External Affairs Minister “rebuked” Sidhu for “messing up” the contentious issue.

Sidhu playing with people’s sentiments: Harsimrat

Harsimrat accused Sidhu of playing with people’s sentiments. She added that Pakistan has found a new agent in Sidhu and they are using him as their puppet.

“When he (Sidhu) returned he was shown black flags, everyone was angry that he went there and hugged someone who kills our people. Instead of apologizing, he played with people’s sentiments. He said he hugged the general as he said Kartarpur corridor will be opened,” Harsimrat Badal said.

“But the truth is, no Pakistani government has so far communicated anything on this…Everyone forgot that he (Sidhu) went to an enemy nation. Weeks passed, but the Congress minister couldn’t produce any document,” Harsimrat added.
