The blast was so strong that even the roof of the house got damaged. Only the walls remained in place. The injured were subsequently taken to Civil Hospital, Ludhiana. The seriously injured ones were referred to the local hospitals.

The incident took place when Sunita Yadav was cooking food in the morning. There was no electricity then at their place. However, reports suggest that the LPG cylinder had started leaking without Sunita realising it. The moment power came back, there was sudden explosion and Sunita’s clothes caught fire. Those who came to help also leapt up partially in flames, which is what explains injuries to several people.
