The Hush Post: Another legislator of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is in news for wrong reasons. Now, AAP MLA from Rupnagar, Amarjit Singh Sandoa, has been charged in an alleged molestation of his former landlady. Charges against Sandoa were framed on Friday by a court in Rupnagar.
A report by Hindustan Times said that Rupnagar Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Pooja Andotra framed charges under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 294 (obscene acts and songs), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509(word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 323(voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Though the court allowed Sandoa’s application to visit abroad, it dismissed MLA’s plea for discharging him from the case and conducting his narco analysis test. The Rupnagar legislator was booked on his former landlady’s complaint on July 29 last year. The woman claimed Sandoa was her tenant till April that year and left without paying the rent and utility bills for a month, the report said.

The Rupnagar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) had constituted a special investigation team (SIT) and it had found the allegations true, following which a challan was filed against the MLA in the court, the report said.
