On Wednesday, had treated a 15-yr-old girl who allegedly died after his medication
The Hush Post: A doctor who had treated a 15-year-old girl, Simran Kaur, who later died, has been arrested in Amritsar for not being able to provide any proof of his qualification.
The physician Gurwinder Singh, aka doctor Bobby, runs his clinic in Kale Ghanupur village, 10 km from Amritsar.
Simran had fever on Wednesday after which her father Sonu Singh of the same village took her to doctor Bobby’s clinic. “He administered a total of eight bottles of glucose drips. However, her health deteriorated,” said Sonu Singh, accusing the fake doctor of medical negligence.
“When I realised that her condition was worsening, I took her to Navpreet Hospital in Amritsar, but they refused to admit her,” he told a national daily. “They did not have the facilities to treat her,” he said. Then, he decided to take her to Escorts Hospital, about 15 km away, but his daughter fell unconscious and died on way to the hospital.
“On receiving a complaint, a police team reached Bobby’s clinic and asked him to produce his medical degree or the licence of his clinic,” said Assistant sub-inspector Raj Kumar. “When he failed to do so, we arrested him for posing as a fake doctor” he said.
A local court remanded him to police custody for two days.
