Punjab Police’s Taliban face: Tie woman on top of vehicle and drive in Amritsar’s Chawinda Devi village

The Hush Post: In an inhuman act, some Punjab Police personnel showed their ugliest face in Amritsar district. They picked up a woman from her home in Chawinda Devi village in the district. Then they tied her on the top of an SUV and drove the vehicle around the village.

As per a report aired by News 18 TV channel, the cops had gone to pick up an accused. As the man was not there, the cops picked up his daughter-in-law and tied her to their SUV’s top. Then the police party drove around the village.

The report goes on to say when the villagers stopped the vehicle, the cops threw the woman and fled away. The villagers rushed the woman to a hospital. She is in a deep shock after the incident.

Meanwhile, both the ruling party Congress and Opposition Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) have condemned the incident.

Condemning the incident senior SAD leader Virsa Singh Valtoha has demanded a strict action against guilty police officials. Valtoha blamed the Capt Amarinder Singh government for an unbridled police.

Raj Kumar Verka, Congress MLA from Amritsar West, also expressed shock over the incident. He said that the accused policemen should not be spared. “Now I am in Delhi. I will enquire about this incident. I will take up the matter with the Chief Minister and the Director General of Police (DGP),” Verka said.
