The Hush Post: Accepting the demand of the Punjab government, the Union Home Ministry has decided to send additional Central forces to maintain law & order in the state. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has ordered dispatching seven companies of Central forces to Punjab. Union Minister Vijay Sampla made this disclosure in a press note released here today.
It is to be noted that Punjab Chief Minister, Capt. Amarinder Singh had met Rajnath Singh on April 19 and had asked him to provide extra Central forces and help modernize the Punjab Police to deal with the threat of re-emerging extremism in the state. He had also urged the union home minister to prepare a comprehensive strategy to counter the evolving nexus between extremists and gangsters.
Thanking Rajnath Singh for sending extra forces to the state, Vijay Sampla said that the Modi government is committed towards maintaining peace and harmony in the state. He said that the Centre is determined to root out the re-emerging militancy in Punjab and address the concerns of the state government. Sampla informed that out of the seven companies sent to Punjab, two are from the CISF which will be deployed at ten high-security jails of the state. The rest will be used to maintain law & order in the state, he added.
