5,000 acre city to come up near Chandigarh International Airport, Punjab govt. begins preparations

Punjab cabinet minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa informed that the land for the new city will be acquired under the land pooling policy and the preparations are underway.

The Hush Post: The Punjab government is planning to come up with a new city adjoining Chandigarh and Mohali. Spanning over five thousand acres, this satellite city will be developed near Chandigarh International Airport. This was revealed by cabinet minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa in Chandigarh on Wednesday after chairing a review meet of higher officials of the urban development and construction department.

Bajwa informed that the land for the new city will be acquired under the land pooling policy and the preparations are underway. The minister for housing and urban development clarified that the land will be acquired solely for the purpose of residential area.

He also stated that the process to acquire 560 acres land in New Chandigarh will be completed this year. Besides, a four-lane road between New Chandigarh and SAS Nagar will be constructed soon, he said.
