Ludhiana teen stabbed to death for affair with his classmate

The Doraha police have arrested three persons for the murder of a Ludhiana teenage boy Avtar Singh. The trio had allegedly stabbed 18-year-old Avtar Singh for his having an affair with the sister of one of them.

The three accused had allegedly stabbed Avtar Singh on Friday near a railway track in Malipur village near Doraha. After stabbing him, the accused had fled assuming him dead. People rushed Avtar Singh to DMC Hospital, Ludhiana, where he succumbed to his injuries later on Friday.

The police said the victim had a love affair with sister of one of the accused due to which they hacked him with sharp-edged weapons.

The accused include Jaspreet Singh alias Jassa (21), of Dhandhari Kalan, his cousin Inderpal Singh (23) of Jatana village. Jaspreet’s friend Gurpal Singh (22), of Araichan village under Doraha, allegedly helped them to kill Avtar.

Avtar Singh was a resident of Dhandhari Kalan and the accused knew him.

Avtar Singh was a class 12 student at Ramgarhia Senior Secondary School, Miller Gunj, Ludhiana.

Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya announced the solving of Avtar’s murder with the arrest of trio. The SSP said that Avtar Singh had a love affair with sister of Jaspreet Singh, who objected to it.

“On Friday Avtar Singh was going back home after attending a Dushhera Mela at Doraha. Then Jaspreet Singh call him up and asked him to return to Doraha for seeing another mela. The accused took him to Malipur village in a three-wheeler, and stabbed him with multiple times,” the SSP said.

“The accused threw After Singh near Railway track in Malipur assuming him dead and fled. Meanwhile, the locals noticed the youth lying in pool of blood and informed police. The police took the victim to Sidhu Hospital Doraha, from where the doctors referred him to DMCH, Ludhiana. After struggling for life Avtar Singh succumbed to injuries,” the SSP added.

After the committing the crime, the accused dumped the sharp-edged weapons in a pond and also broke Avtar’s mobile phone. The accused also dumped their phone which they used to call up Avtar Singh. The police have recovered the vehicle in which they ferried Avtar and also their blood-stained clothes.

Avtar Singh’s cousin Gurdit Singh told police that Jaspreet Singh had threatened to the victim in past for not talking to his sister. Following his statement the police started zeroing on the accused and arrested him.

The Doraha police have registered an FIR under sections 302 and 34 of the IPC against the accused.
