The Hush Post: A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Mohali has rejected the bail petition of former Shiromani Akail Dal (SAD) minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur in the multi-crore synthetic drug racket case. Besides Phillaur, the court has also denied bail to four others in the case.
Meanwhile, the court has ordered framing of charges against 12 persons on the charge sheet filed the CBI. The matter has been posted for hearing on September 18.
It is to be noted that that Sarwan Singh Phillaur, his son Damanvir Singh Phillaur, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Avinash Chand and another person had filed separate bail petitions through their counsels. The court today rejected these bail pleas.
Besides Phillaur, his son and Chand, the persons named in the charge sheet includes the names of Amritsar-based businessman Jagjit Singh Chahal, Paramjit Chahal, Inderjit Kaur Chahal, Davinder Kant, Jasvinder Singh, Sachin Sardana, Rashmi Sardana, Sushil Kumar and Kailash Saradana.
Chahal’s property worth Rs. 55.54 crore, including business firms and luxury cars, had been provisionally attached by the Enforcement Directorate in April last year.
