Former Akali Minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan’s son and Kanwalpreet Singh Kaki booked for illegal mining

The Hush Post: On the basis of an ongoing investigation in the Punjab mining scandal, cases have been filed against Jagroop Singh Sekhwan, son of former Akali minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan, and Kanwalpreet Singh Kaki. Cases have been filed on the base of illegal mining and other related, illegal activities undertaken by the duo.

Officials have been investigating the alleged nexus between the sand mining mafia and the Akali-BJP combine. It is alleged that illegal mining was being carried on on the banks of river Beas, under the watchful eyes of the ministers named above.

A case was accordingly filed in the Bhaini Miyaan Kha Police Station at around 9 p.m. on the night of April 19. The investigations in this case have been going on for a long time. The case has been filed under Indian Penal Code Sections 379 and 120-B, and the Indian Mining Act.

Station House Officer Sarbjeet Singh said that investigations are being carried on in this case. Both Kanwalpreet Singh Kaki and Sewa Singh Sekhwan said that this case reeks of political vendetta against the Akali Dal Party. Sewa Singh Sekhwan also said that his family was not involved in any illegal activity whatsoever.
