A search operation is on in Dinanagar, Gurdaspur where four suspected terrorists were allegedly spotted by a farmer. According to the eyewitness farmer, who spotted them, the four suspects were carrying bags and weapon-like items. The farmer immediately informed the village sarpanch, who in turn informed the police.
In a related incident, at about the same time, Punjab Police confiscated a Maruti Alto vehicle — JK-08E 2622 — after its occupants abandoned the car and made a vanishing act. The incident took place at Bamiyal Sector of Dinanagar, Gurdaspur. Both the incidents — the inputs by the farmer and the confiscated Alto car are being linked by the police to investigate further.
There was a police barricading at Bamiyal Sector from where Maruti Alto car was being driven with about four occupants inside. When the cops signalled them to stop, the driver sped the vehicle. But at a short distance from there, the occupants fearing that they would soon be chased abandoned it.
About a fortnight ago, the Punjab Police was placed on alert. This, after reports that six to seven Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists “had infiltrated in the state. It was also reported that among those who infiltrated could be Jaish terrorist Zakir Musa.
