Former minister Sucha Singh Langah acquitted of rape charges

The Hush Post: Gurdaspur Session Court on Monday acquitted former Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) minister Sucha Singh Langah, who was booked in September last year for allegedly raping a Punjab Police woman constable.

The complainant had also submitted a video in which a man and a woman were seen in a compromising position. However, she told a court on February 28 that she was not the woman in the video.

61-year-old Langah former MLA from Dera Baba Nanak segment in Gurdaspur was booked on September 29, 11 days before the Gurdaspur polls.

The FIR said the woman charged Langah with raping her repeatedly since 2009. After not being available for days, Langah surrendered at the Gurdaspur court on October 4 and charges were framed on February 14 under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code, 384 extortion, 420 cheating and 506 criminal intimidation.
