Octogenarian NRI from United Kingdom found dead in Hoshiarpur hotel

Deceased NRI Harbhajan Singh had come from the UK about 15 days back and was staying in the hotel since May 20. He hailed from Maana village

The Hush Post: An octogenarian Non-Resident Indian (NRI) from the United Kingdom (UK) was found dead in a hotel in Hoshiarpur on Saturday, a report said.

The deceased NRI has been identified as Harbhajan Singh (80) who had come from the UK about 15 days ago and was staying in the hotel since May 20. He hailed from from Maana village, the report said.

As per sources Harbhajan had died in the evening and police were informed.

The deceased’s brother-in-law Balwant Singh, a resident of Khanaura said the NRI had come to India to sell land and get money pending from a deal, the report said.

The police have seized Rs 6,100 and 125 pounds from the hotel room of the deceased NRI. But his relative Balwant Singh said the amount could be more. Balwant Singh reportedly said the body will be cremated after Harbhajan’s wife, Kulwant Kaur arrives from the UK, the report said.

“It appears the man died of a heart attack but the exact cause of death will be confirmed in the autopsy report,” DSP Sukhwinder Singh was quoted as saying.
