Child-traffickers’ inter-state gang busted with arrest of 5 including 4 women

The Hush Post, Jagraon: The Ludhiana Rural (Jagraon) Police claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of child traffickers. The police have arrested five persons, including four women, and have recovered a three-day-old infant from them.

The arrested gang members include 1. Labh Singh, a resident of Sadhuwala in Ferozepur; 2. Rachna, a resident of Jagat Singh Wala in Muktsar; 3. Randeep Kaur; 4. Rajwant Kaur, both residents of Nazu Shah wala in Ferozepur; and 5. Suman, a resident of Fazilka.

At a press conference, Ludhiana Range DIG Ranbir Singh Khatra lauded the Ludhiana Rural Police under SSP Varinder Singh Brar.

The DIG said that Inspector Jaspal Singh, SHO of City Jagraon police station had got secret information regarding this. After this information, the SHO and his team busted an inter-state gang of child lifters. The police nabbed these persons near Sherpur Chowk in Jagraon. The accused were travelling in an Indica car at the time of their arrest. The police also recovered a three-day-old infant from them. The police said these gang members were involved in child trafficking in various districts of Punjab and nearby states.

The arrested gang members have been booked in an FIR at City Police Station, Jagraon.

The police have handed over the infant to Manager of Registered Children Home near village Talwandi Khurd. The cops did so with the assistance of the office of the Child Welfare Committee.

In past too, the accused had sold the children for money in various districts like Jalandhar, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana. Besides, the gang members were also active in nearby states like Haryana and Rajasthan.

Further investigation is on to reveal the details of other crimes committed by these inter-state gang members.
