The Hush Post, Jagraon: The Ludhiana Rural (Jagraon) Police have arrested two persons along with 53 kg of poppy husk from them.

Arrested persons have been identified as Satpal Singh alias Sattu, a resident of Kotli (Kulgehna) and Surinder Singh alias Shindu, a resident of Khurshaidpura under the Sidhwan Bet police station.

While briefing the press, Ludhiana Rural SSP Varinder Singh Brar said that in the campaign regarding drive against drugs, special efforts are being taken to curb the drug menace.

He said that under this drive, on the basis of a secret information a special naka had been set up on the canal bridge at Sudhar when an informer gave secret information that two persons Satpal Singh alias Sattu, a resident of Kotli (Kulgehna) and Surinder Singh alias Shindu, a resident of Khurshaidpura under the Sidhwan Bet are smuggling the poppy husk in the area and they purchase the poppy husk from other states and are supplying the same at Sudhar, Dakha and Sidhwan Bet.

The informer told the police that the duo is coming along with poppy husk from other state and are coming from Barnala side in their white colour I20 car bearing registration number PB 10 GN 8723.

Following this information, on checking the said car two bags of poppy husk were recovered from the vehicle. On checking the bags the poppy husk 52 Kgs was found in the bags. On this recovery, an FIR under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Sudhar. These arrested accused will be produced before the concerned court and their questioning could lead to more disclosures, SSP Brar said.
