Man killed over Rs 1,000 dispute; Jagraon Police solve the murder within hours; arrest 5
The Hush Post, Jagraon: A man was killed over a petty dispute of Rs 1,000. Promptly solving the case within hours, the Ludhiana Rural (Jagraon) Police have arrested five persons.
Ludhiana (Rural) SSP Varinder Singh Brar said that on Thursday, the police had registered an FIR regarding the murder of a man Avtar Singh of Cheema village falling under the jurisdiction of Hathur police station, in Raikot. The FIR under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other provisions of the IPC was registered on the complaint of deceased Avtar Singh’s wife Jaspal Kaur.
Jaspal Kaur said in her complaint that her husband Avtar Singh was brutally murdered over a petty amount of Rs 1,000. The FIR was registered against Karamjit Singh, Sukhwinder Kaur, Amritpal Singh, Jasvir Singh and Lakhvir Singh. All accused persons are residents of Seeloani Road, near Patwar Bhavan in Raikot Raikot.
Giving further information, SSP Brar said that accused Amritpal Singh had borrowed Rs 1,000 from deceased Avtar Singh. After some time Avtar Singh left for Italy. After returning from Italy, Avtar Singh asked Amritpal Singh to refund his money but the accused refused to do so. When Avtar Singh started pressing for his money, the five accused persons stabbed him to death.
SSP Brar further said that the police have seized the weapon of offence, a sword. All the accused persons were arrested within one hour of the registration of the FIR. The SSP appreciated the police team for such a prompt action.
