The Hush Post: An FIR has been registered against Hardev Singh Ladi for illegal mining. The FIR has been registered under the mining act. This happened a day after Congress announced him as their candidate for Shahkot by-elections.
Notably, Hardev Singh Ladi is the Congress candidate for Shahkot bye-elections. 50-year-old Ladi is a general secretary of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC), and he had lost the polls last year to Ajit Singh Kohar, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader. However, two months ago Kohar died as a result of which bypolls were necessitated.
Ladi Sherowalia, was declared the candidate for the assembly by-poll for Shahkot constituency scheduled for May 28.
The FIR has been registered on the compliant of Mohan Singh of Malrhi Nakodar. A case has been registered under Section 21 of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act and Section 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code at Mehatpur Police Station.
The police have also booked contractor of Kaimvala quarry Surjit Singh and Ashwinder Singh in the FIR. The FIR was registered by (SHO) Parminder Singh on Thursday and Friday at 4.26 am. SHO Parminder was appointed by the election commission.
Mohan Singh, who is General Secretary of the Bhatha Majdoor Union, has through a complaint said that despite the model code of conduct, illegal mining was rampant on panchayat land in villages, including Gujra, Kaimvala, Rahpur, Gausuwal, Chelian, Budhewal, Baloki, Khurlapur, Pipli and Chak Bahmnia.
“Illegal mining has been going on with the support of Congress Halka in-charge Hardev Singh Ladi Sherowalia,” he alleged in his complaint.
