Kashmiri Ph D student arrested from Punjab in connection with failed attack on CRPF convoy

In a major breakthrough, the Jammu & Kashmir Police on Tuesday arrested a Kahsmiri student from Punjab in connection with the failed Banihal attack case of 30th March.

The Kashmiri student has been identified as Hilal Ahmed Mantoo, a resident of village Chakura in Lasipura of Pulwama.

28-year-old Hilal Ahmed is pursuing his M. Ed. from the Central University in Bathinda. He is known to be associated with the terrorist organization Islami Jammait Tulba, a branch of Hizbul Mujhaideen (HM).

Hilal is said to be a close aide of main accused Owais Amin, who had tried to yet again do a suicide bombing on a CRPF convoy in J&K like in Pulwama.

40 CRPF personnel were killed in the Pulwama terror attack on February 14.
