The Hush Post: In a major achievement, as many as 20 villages under the Khanna Police District have been declared free from the drug menace.
In a press release Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahia said that taking the campaign against drugs further, the residents of five more villages falling under Khanna have been declared drug-free. The police chief said that efforts are being initiated to make the youths aware of the ill effects of drugs and to keep them away from this menace. He said that the youths who have fallen victim to drugs are being admitted to the rehabilitation centres and are being cured by the medical experts and thus are rehabilitated after their recovery.
The SSP said that police-public meetings are being organised to make people aware about the drug menace and due to these meetings till now as many 20 villages have been declared drug-free.
SSP Dahia said that under this series of seminars against drugs, at Ladhran village a function was held under the supervisions of Samrala DSP Harsimrat Singh, and Samrala SHO Inspector Bhupinder Singh. At Majri and Nizampur villages such seminars were held under the supervision of Payal DSP Rachhpal Singh and Payal SHO Inspector Gurmel Singh. At these programmes, the residents of respective villages vowed to fight against the drug menace and to fight against drugs tooth and nail. They gave an undertaking that none of the villagers is taking drugs or selling the same, the Khanna SSP said.
