4 arrested in Khanna for illegal mining; 2 held for stealing mobile phones

The Hush Post, Khanna: The Samrala police falling under Khanna district claimed to have arrested four persons for illegal mining and have registered a case in this regard.

Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya disclosed in a press conference that a police party under Machhiwara SHO Inspector Rajesh Kumar was patrolling the area when an informer gave information about illegal mining operation going on in Rajgarh on Kohara Road. After getting the information the police party stopped two bike-borne persons at a naka at Rajgarh village.

The two persons were identified as Yakoob and Saif Ali, both residents of Koom Kalan village in Ludhiana district who were doing recee for carrying out illegal mining. Two tractors laden with illegal mined sand were found coming from the Rajgarh side. Their drivers were identified as Shokat Ali, a resident of Koom Kalan and Sharafat Ali, a resident of Kullewal under Samrala. They were arrested by the police party.

A case under section 379 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 21 Mining & Minerals Act at Machiwarra Sahib police station was registered .

The SSP further said that another police party of Machiwara Police had set up a naka near Ratipur village. The police party got information about two mobiles being stolen from Dobu Colony Machiwara.  Two persons identified as Venod and Dilfa, both residents of Balibeg Colony, confessed that they had stolen these two mobiles from the house of Harwinder Singh of Machiwara.
