The Hush Post, Khanna: The Khann Police have arrested a man with 20 quintals of spurious desi ghee.
Accused Harit Bhardwaj from Kurukshetra has confessed that he was going to supply this ghee to various cities of Punjab.
Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya revealed this in a press release. SSP Dahiya said that a police party arrested Bhardwaj at a naka near Pristine Mall on GT Road, Khanna.
The police party was checking suspected vehicles and persons at the naka. When the police stopped a Bolero jeep, it found 2,262 litres spurious desi ghee (approximately 20 quintals) from the vehicle. The occupant of this vehicle identified himself as Harit Bhardwaj, the SSP said.
In his preliminary the questioning, Bhardwaj confessed said that he was going to supply this desi ghee at Pathankot and Amritsar.
The SSP further said that it did not seem to be edible. Instead of being soft, the ghee was hard. The ghee melts in this hot weather, the SSP said.
SSP Dahiya further said that Food Safety Officer Khanna Yogesh Goyal was called on the spot. Goyal took sampled of the desi ghee for testing. After getting the report, the police would get further legal action in this regard, the SSP said.
