SK Shourie, Khanna: The Khanna Police have arrested two persons and recovered 60 kg of poppy husk from them. The arrested persons have been identified as Avtar Singh and Zora Singh both residents of Saloudi village near Khanna.

Addressing a press conference SSP Khanna Dhruv Dahiya said that a police party of Khanna Police led by SP(I) Jasvir Singh and DSP JS Cheema had set up a naka near Bulepur village. During naka the police party stopped a truck coming from Mandi Gobindgarh side for checking. During search of the truck the police party recovered three bags containing 60 kg of poppy husk comprising of 20 kg poppy husk each from the three tool boxes of the truck.

The SSP said a case under NDPS act was registered in this regard against the arrested two accused and they were produced in a court from where they were sent in police remand for two days.

SSP stated that as per preliminary investigation the accused had brought this contraband from Rajasthan and were to sell it in the area but they were arrested by the police.

SSP Dahiya said that in other case a police party of Maloud Police under SHO Manjit Singh along with senior officials of Khanna Police during a naka near Pristine Mall searched a tourist bus coming from Delhi side. During checking the police party recovered two gold bricks from a person weighting 2.4 kg. The arrested was identified as Sandeep Singh a resident of village Pandori near Amritsar and he failed to give any document in this regard. As per SSP the police had informed Income Tax department and Enforcement for further legal action after registering a DDR in this regard.

The SSP said another police party of Doraha Police recovered 40 cartons of liquor from a City Honda car during a naka near Kashmir Garden Doraha that was coming from Khanna side. SSP said that a case under excise act was registered in this regard against one unidentified alleged accused who managed to escape from the car after stopping it some yards away from Naka. DSP Payal Rashpal singh Dhindsa along with other concerned officials was present during press conference.
