Two arrested in Samrala with 4.5 kg opium

The Hush Post, Khanna: The Samrala Police claimed to have arrested two persons and along with 4.5 kg of opium from them.

The arrested persons include Harjit Singh alias Jeet and Gurwinder Singh, both residents of Burhchand village under KachaPakka police station in Tarn Tarn district.

Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya said that during a special drive a police party led by Samrala SHO Manjit Singh under Samrala tehsil stopped a Hyundai I-20 car at Bardhalan village. The car was coming from Khanna side. During checking of the vehicle, the police party seized 4 kg 500 gms of opium from the accused.

The police registered an FIR under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Samrala police station against the accused.

SSP Dahiya said that the accused had brought this contraband from Uttar Pradesh and were going towards Amritsar. But the police party nabbed them. SHO Samrala Manjit Singh stated that they will produce the accused in the court for further questioning.

SP (I) Khanna Jasvir Singh, DSP Samrala Harsimrat Singh, DSP (I) Khanna Jagwinder Cheema and other concerned officials of Khanna Police were present during the press conference.
